Game Design PORTFOLIO
ABOUT DENNIS LÖFGREN
I am a 23 year old Game Designer, Graphic Designer, 3D Artist, Video Producer and Gaming Enthusiast based in Boden, Sweden. I’m currently studying Game Design full time at Boden Business Park.
My passion lies in Game Design, Graphic Design and Game Development in general.
On this page you can find examples of game projects that I've worked on as well as some bonus portfolio material.
Platform: iOS, Android
Asteroid Odyssey was the second digital game project we made on the two year education I’m currently on in Boden, Sweden.
Asteroid Odyssey is a puzzle game where the player is tasked with connecting all cargo boxes on screen with each other by swiping them along a grid. Once a box has been swiped, it will not stop moving until it has collided with something else, either an obstacle or another box.

I’m really proud of the puzzle design I did on this project. I wanted to create puzzles that were easy to learn while also making sure the tutorial didn’t feel too long and boring to experienced players. The game teaches you all the mechanics, one by one, without a single word and then throws you into some tough puzzles and it all feels very rewarding.
Another aspect I paid much attention to in this project was the UI design. I wanted to minimise the jarring transition between the iOS experience and the UI inside the game. I achieved this by following Apple’s design guidelines while still infusing the games own look.
I’m very proud of this project and I believe I was successful in accomplishing what I set out to do. However, there are still things to be done in taking this to a final state.
What needs most work is the overall structure of the game, how you proceed and unlock new puzzles. Currently the game just has a linear progression which can cause players to get stuck on a particularly hard puzzle. In continuing this project I would like to adopt a semi non-linear progression. This allows players to quit a puzzle and start another one in the meantime, minimising frustration in the player.
STRIKE FOR GLORY
Year: 2018 - 2019
Strike For Glory was the first digital game project we made on the two year education I’m currently on in Boden, Sweden and the first time I was officially the team leader on a group project.
Strike For Glory is a 2D arena platform fighting game centered around melee combat. Each player is equally matched, so it’s all down to the skills of the player to win!

The game definitely feels unfinished, but I don’t think the core concept is flawed. If we restarted development of this game, I would’ve designed a better stage to fight on, but most of the other decisions would’ve been kept the same. I just think the game needs more time in the oven to refine the design, mechanics and feel as well as adding more characters, stages and modes.
Underneath the issues that need fixing is a fun game at its core. I had the opportunity to display it at an event called Nordsken and that really cemented my thoughts. A lot of people played it and came away impressed and having had a fun time. It was very cool being able to see people have fun with my game!
The game is not finished and is therefore missing content. The only playable character is Victoria Valentine, a pop star looking for a fight. The only stage is the arena where she prefers to perform, Valentine Stadium.
Platform: Board Game
Ballot Blitz was the first game project we made on the two year education I’m currently on in Boden, Sweden.
Ballot Blitz is a party game that can be played with anyone! The objective is simple, go to the center with the most amount of points collected. You gain or lose points by landing on the different areas on the game board. If the game doesn’t go your way, remember that the tables can turn even in the very end!

I’m very proud of this board game. It features a very cool rotating board and a lot of fun gameplay mechanics that make it perfect for a party game.
SUPER MARIO MAKER 2 LEVELS
FOLLOWING NINTENDO’S DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Here is a series of six Levels that I made in Super Mario Maker 2. It may seem weird to some that I put levels from Mario Maker in my portfolio, but they demonstrate my skills in Level Design just as much as a game would. I’m really proud of how they turned out and have been a great exercise in Level Design.
Level Codes for all the stages are available below if you wanna play them yourself. If you don’t own a copy of Super Mario Maker 2 on Nintendo Switch, videos will be available here shortly!

THAT BOOK BELONGS TO TAYLOR
Genre: Young adult short story
This Book Belongs to Taylor is a short story that I wrote during a summer university course in Creative Writing at Karlstad University.
Taylor is a 19 year old girl in college and she has fallen in love. Read the diary entries following her journey of gathering the courage she needs to make the biggest move in her life.
This is my first ever official work in storytelling. So while I'm very proud of it, I'm sure there are many mistakes in the eyes of professional writers.
This Book Belongs to Taylor is a collection of diary pages and can therefore feel rather disjointed, this is intentional. Everything is intentional.
But wait… there’s more!
I’m also a Graphic Designer and a 3D Artist and they both have dedicated portfolios. Check them out below!
You can also check out my Legacy Portfolio, which is stuff that don’t necessarily display my current skill level but serves more as a path through my time making video games.
