BG & smol (Working Title) is a 3D puzzle platformer where you control two characters:
smol
A small 3D platformer-like character with a wide, expressive move set.
BG
A big first person character that can pick up and orient objects in the game world.
Use BG’s abilities to help smol advance! Each level is filled with puzzles to solve and platforming challenges to traverse.
Designed with expressiveness and creativity in mind, BG & smol offers a fun puzzle platformer experience that will keep you engaged throughout!

Made with Love and Passion
Since the beginning, BG & smol has been supported simply by the love of the game. I say “we” a lot but its primarily been me (Dennis Löfgren) making the game in my free time with the other original Game Jam members hopping in and helping out when possible.
While it has gotten us this far, we need financial support to allow this game to become what we envision.

Unreal Engine 5
BG & smol is being made using Unreal Engine 5 and makes use of Lumen and ray-traced reflections to bring a CG aesthetic to the game, but it can also be brought down to run well on low-end hardware and handhelds. The power and versatility of UE5 will allow us to ship the game on all varieties of PC’s and consoles.
We’re also highly aware of the common issues often plaguing games running the engine and will be keeping a close eye on them to make sure we release a smooth and stutter-free experience.

GMTK Game Jam 2024
Development of BG & smol originally began as a part of the Game Maker’s Toolkit Game Jam 2024. We made the original demo within the span of 72 hours and had a lot of fun doing so! After the jam, we found so much potential in what we had made that we continued development!
The game has come a long way since that demo and thousands of hours have been spent to make the project what it is today.
